Play It Again Summer - taking requests
As I've hinted at elsewhere, this season we're adding something to our recording sessions inspired by something they did years ago on Gunsmoke. They let people vote on which stories they'd like to hear again... then they performed them a second time.
Of course, in those days there were no reruns, so there was no other way to hear them a second time... since we still have the "original and true" versions on the site, we have to do something special and fun. So we're mixing things up... in the Play it Again Summer, no one may play the same part they did in the original versions, including series leads. So they'll be fun. Some might be silly, some might be much less so.
So what episode from our wee canon would you like us to Play Again? Why? All suggestions will be considered, and good quotes on the subject of "why" might make it into the episode intros.
(I will also tell you that for the September session, I am looking for an episode that only has one female in it, be it Kit or Trixie. Sausage parties only for this session, please!)
*Note: Play it Again Summer episodes will air in the summer of 2011

Brilliant
Gregg,
That's a brilliant idea and I am completely dumbstruck as to a suggestion. OK, well, let me throw out a few probably obvious choices, with apologies if I've forgotten multiple female roles.
Duality
Why? Simon Radford. Be interested to see someone else's take on that very memorable character.
When Darkness Falls
Why? A show focused more on the secondary characters. Be interested to hear someone else interpreting Harry Kelly.
Secret Origins
Why? Geez, you gotta ask?
The World Next Door
Why? To see who else might be up to the challenge of Baboon McSmoothie!
No Justice
Why? Trixie and Sabien? What a great combo.
Mixed Blessings
Just an all-around good episode.
Sabien's Law
Lots of Sabien.
Hm, I guess maybe not so dumbstruck.
The current casting seems so perfect, it'll be interesting to hear these fantastic roles voiced by someone else.
Bill

I don't remember the name of it, but my all time favorite Black Jack was the throw back to Sam Spade... it was awesome, and I'd love to hear it again... but not sure how it would work in a switch up...
I also love the one where Red Panda thinks the Nazi hurt Kit Baxter, ultimately has him killed... I'll have to look he episode up I guess...

Ooh, I like this idea. It'll be a blast hearing new voices in beloved roles. DRT ain't like Bewitched. You replace Darrin and somebody's gonna notice.
The only problem I foresee is getting more than two Decoder-Dorks to agree on which episode you should pick.
My picks would have been 'Brimstone Alley' and 'The Big Top', but of course there's the whole 'multiple female role' thing...
I'll go with:
The Rat Lord, to hear our fake-Baxter Musical
Much Ado About Norman, to see what fake-Norman would sound like
The Deadliest Game, to hear fake-Panda's version of The Voice.
And, Secret Origins.

No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice. No Justice.

What a fun idea! I'll have to think about this but for some reason "No Justice" is popping right to the front of my brain. (Actually, it is one of my favorites.)

The BJJ with the ventriloquist dummies was my favorite, I think.

'Secret Origin' and 'No Justice' seems to be pretty popular and I'm also throwing my vote behind those two classics.
I'll also second the nomination of 'Now who's the Dummy' because it has, in my opinion, some of the best Trixie dialogue, especially the best flirtatious lines, and it offers good fun roles for the guys.

Okay, I've calmed down a bit. But this idea still has me all aflutter.
My requests would be for:
Black Jack --
1) Justice in Love and War. This has a diverse collection of characters and hey, anytime Trixie gets to flirt her way past a security guard, I'm there, cheering her on. 2) Mixed Blessings. This is possibly Freddie's biggest role, and I'd love to see how someone else plays his part. 3) Much Ado About Norman. Norman almost steals the show from the two leads in this one. Can it happen again? 4) Justice and the Happy Ending. Plain and simple, a good show. Not a plain and simple show, though. Not at all. Red Panda --
1) When Darkness Falls. This one brought the "fictional" heroes into the real world for me, and had me wondering who around me now is really an agent. 2) The Sweet Tooth. Great villain. Great fight scene. The banter between Kit and the Boss is becoming kinda sweet and playful. 3) The Callaghan Mob. I've listened to this one a lot. A lot. And I think different voices can add to it. 4) The Empty Box. This one has some great characters, with strong roles. I think it would give your crew some good scenes to play with. Really, any shows would be a delight. But do you really have to make us wait almost 2 years to find out which shows get chosen?
