So I'm in Strange Adventures (a local comic store icon) in downtown Halifax with Shannon and there's a collection box there. On the collection box it says, "Please Donate for Prince Valiant statue."

So I ask the owner of the store and he says that he's been working for three years to get a Prince Valiant statue erected down by the harbour because Hal Foster the creator of Prince Valiant comics was born in Halifax, just down by the harbour. He played there, and there's some awesome stories about when he was a kid.
The City council is up for it. And the local foundries by the harbour said they'd make the bronze statue at cost.
But the 25 grand needs to be raised.
Comic Geeks and friends from around the world. How cool would it be to have a statue of Prince Valiant erected in the habour for the world to see?
I'm considering making a pitch on the show. Anyone interested in donating?

That is very cool, on many levels.

I never read too much of Prince Valiant, but my dad remembered it fondly from growing up--and it seemed kind of cool to have this huge panel of detailed comic artwork amid the standard comic strips.

I'm glad the city is behind it, especially that there are local foundries to help with it. I love coming across those sorts of monuments when I travel.

I say go ahead and make the announcement on the show, but I also bet there are other podcasts all about comics and whatnot that might be game to spread the word.
