Correct? |

I go with Space 1889... Its definitely Steampunk and fragrantly Victorian.
... God I love that rpg... I'm obsessed. I hate Frank Chadwick for coming up with it.

Thats pretty much what I use as a basis, too. Never played it, but am aware of the style of it.

Sherlock Holmes spans into both. I am allowed to talk about him in 1902 but have to be careful because many of his stories have not yet been published so I had to memorize those that were and weren't so I would not transgress with time travel knowledge.

Take the technology out of the Will Smith theatrical blunder (although endearing in it's own special way)of Wild, Wild, West and drop it into Edwardian England.
basically.

you can get an idea of the stories at Steampod I haven't gotten too into some of the stuff, but the stories are getting better. The first one on the feed is a great one.
Some pictures of folks into the steam punk scene at Flickr

And really Wild Wild west was pretty much steam punk, the spider was driven by steam power. Just make it Wild, wild Sherlock Holmes...

The best explanation I've ever heard of Steampunk is:
You know it when you see it, as you know what it isn't, when you see it.
Yeah, real helpful, aren't I?

If I weren't a little ways out from Halifax, I'd be all for that. Except I prefer to create my own character.

I've heard Steampunk described as "You know Badger from Firefly? He was Steampunk."
It made sense to me, but is it right?
