We did this last year and it was encouraging (whether they can do that many words, so can I or gee they're doing even fewer words than I am).

I am behind..but I've worked some long days all week and pleased that I even have 11,000.
But the bones are laid out and I do plan to catch up and go far beyond over the course of the next several days.
It's only the first week!!
All is still possible!!

I'm not doing very well  I got stuck (making it up as I went along wasn't a good plan) and then got distracted by other things. I'm not going to make the word count, but am planning to keep writing - after all it's not all about the numbers! |

Last night I came into a total of 11k words. Making good headway now, kind of in the same bind not knowing what I am going to write that day. I would like to finish before thanksgiving though, I know I won't be able to write very much then.

31,971 part of the problem is that every single bit has to be carefully researched. I have Google Earth open next to an 18th century sailing chart so that I can translate from journal entry (using the out dated name of a place) to its 18th century chart, then using that and latitude references from the logbooks the current location on Google Earth, then locate the nearest place of interest that modern folk would know about to write in about where the ship was. Time consuming...all that for one word.
The worst one was when I spent over an hour pouring over Captain Cook's maps of the coast going through all these old names only to find that all I really needed to know to put into the book was "near Victoria Harbour" growl
