You remember why the Poet never actually appears, right?
Right right...

Hmm... maybe he could go into a post-modern phase or something and thus you wouldn't have to try (and fail) to write better sonnet than Shakespeare

He could date a Jazz singer instead

Or you could simply embrace the delights to be found in Bad Poetry. There's a wonderful little volume of it, entitled "Very Bad Poetry", compiled by Kathryn & Ross Petras. It even includes a two stanzas of "The Thorn", by Wordsworth, proving that, sometimes, bad poems happen to good poets.

According to the Petrases, the absolute worst poem ever written in the English language is "A Tragedy", by Theophile Marzials:

Death!
Plop.
The barges down in the river flop.
Flop, plop,
Above, beneath.
From the slimy branches the grey drips drop. . .
To the oozy waters, that lounge and flop. . .
And my head shrieks---"Stop"
And my heart shrieks---"Die". . .

Ugh! yet I knew---I knew
If a woman is false can a friend be true?
It was only a lie from beginning to end---
My Devil---My "Friend". . .

So what do I care,
And my head is empty as air---
I can do,
I can dare
(Plop, plop
The barges flop
Drip, drop.)
I can dare, I can dare!
And let myself all run away with my head
And stop.
Drop
Dead.
Plop, flop.

Plop
.

(Truly awful, I think you'll agree.)

I,d say someone with LOTS of sense! Com'on your stuff is so marketable its insane! Red Panda action figures! Red Panda videogame! Red Panda The Trading Card Game! Grapple Gun! Masks! Halloween costumes! Red Panda Light-up 'Static Shoe' sneakers! Lunch box! T-shirts! Kids Fedorah! LEGO Red Panda! LEGO Red Panda the Videogame! Red Panda Decoder Rings! Mad Monkey pinatas! Birthday parties with your very own Red Panda!

Aww...If I were to win the lottery...
Now that's a true marketing man! I agree wholeheartedly! Its just a matter of getting the ball rolling with a really well drawn cartoon... If I had an ounce of artistic talent (which I don't), I'd try to draw one myself. Surely ONE of the DRT fans could step up and take on the challenge, and share in the eventual bounty!

With all the artsy-fartsy types in here, there has to be a connection to a really good animator...there HAS TO BE! Come on, fellow DRT fans...wouldn't you love to see RP and FS and friends in a really cool cartoon???

Actually, I know a couple of people who work in animation. There's Julie Faulkner (who, besides working in animation, draws a comic strip called "Promises, Promises"), and Ted Heeley (who worked on "Life's a Zoo", "Lunar Jim", and the "Nerds" pilot which is on the Teletoon Detour site, and will hopefully be picked up as a series). I first met Ted in 1992, when we both infiltrated the Victoria College student revue. He never was a student there, and I was a student in a rival college.

Julie and Ted are both really great artists, and really funny people.

Life's a Zoo was a riot

I know a guy on another forum who works on Jimmy Two-Shoes (or worked, I'm not sure if its still in production).

You should send your friends some CDs with Red Panda episodes!! Get them hooked!

What we need is get in touched with someone at Nelvana. Sometimes they send a call for pitch to any employees of the company. Its how Di-gata Defenders was produced, when animator Greg Collinson pitched the idea to the big wigs.

Wow, they certainly have the credentials for animation, P! Would they consider doing an animated episode of the Red Panda for the usual professional considerations (coffee and donuts)? We'd need Gregg's approval, of course, but I'm pretty sure we could raise the funds for a dozen of Toronto's best donuts!

I think an animated pilot would cost more than coffee and donuts, especially considering how much would have to go into it. Even with Flash based technology.

Though we could probably get a few animation-friendly character designs for cheaper than a full pilot. We would still need to pay actual MONEY for it.

You're right, Undrave...it would probably cost a bundle to actually produce an animated episode, but all I can afford is a small contribution towards the donuts.

How 'bout just having someone draw a flipbook version on the corners of the pages of the next printed novelization?
