On May 11 and 12, the Post Meridian Radio Players will be putting on a live Sci-Fi Spring Spectacular in Davis Square, Somerville, MA! I am directing the headliner, The Day the Earth Stood Still, based on the 1954 Lux Radio Theater adaptation of the classic 1951 film. I'm very excited to bring this production to life, and the cast is doing a great job of giving the characters a sense of realism dealing with extraordinary circumstances. Also on the bill is a thrilling episode of Red Shift, Interplanetary Do-Gooder" Havoc Over Holowood! I play the title character, so I'm having a very busy rehearsal schedule. We will be recording, though I don't know when or how we will be making that available. Stay tuned for more details. But darned Timelords seem to keep an eye on those things... Untill then- fingers crossed on a DL ;-) | | | 05-06-2012 | #8 | | Tim Prasil Prasil is offline Join Date: Jun 2009 Posts: 83 | Break a leg, Michael! It looks like great fun, and I join with those hoping we'll somehow get to hear a recording of it. I used to live just up the street from the Davis Square for a couple of years while--what else?--getting a graduate degree. Might you be performing at the Somerville Theatre? Listening to an audio version of TDTESS there would be heaven. Oops. I now see you'll be at the Urban Promise Church. Well, that's somehow more appropriate, given the whole man comes from above with a message of peace/gets killed/is resurrected thing. We got the effect I wanted, which was for the audience to be reminded of the original, but to be swept away in the moment and take the show on its own terms. As for making it available on the site, the PMRP is hard at work on the summer show (see http://www.huboftheuniverseproductio...nts_srt12.html for more details), so it'll be a while before we can work out what we'd be allowed to put up. Rest assured, once we can, I'll be spreading the word far and wide! --Michael McAfee | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | | All times are GMT -5.
