Default JG Ballard radio dramas/The Vanishing Point

Found this while surfing the other night. Neat stuff.

JG Ballard radio dramas on The Vanishing Point
http://www.rickmcgrath.com/jgballard...hingpoint.html
"In 1988, Canada's national radio corporation broadcast a series of 30-minute radio dramas, based on the short stories of JG Ballard, for its long-running program, "The Vanishing Point". The series was produced by Bill Lane in the CBC's Toronto studios....Lauded at the time, these forgotten gems explore the dramatic aspects of JGB's early short stories within an auditory medium."

The Cloud Sculptors of Coral D
The Dead Astronaut
Escapement
Low Flying Aircraft
News from the Sun
A Question of Re-entry
Having a Wonderful Time

Listen online.

I hadn't heard of The Vanishing Point. I'd like to hear more from this series.

Yes, thank you very much for posting the direct links to the MP3 files.

I much prefer listening to them on my MP3 player while walking or driving.

Mazirian, interesting stories (I listened to them all casually while working yesterday), good production, nice acting, decent sound quality (44100Hz stereo/128Kbps)... Firing on all cylinders.

Here's an episode log:

Listening to some of the others (ty Shonokin) it seems that the Ballard episodes might be some of the best ones... But there were quite a number of shows. I'll have to keep an ear out for this series.

That's good to hear. I'll be sure to pick these up when I get home. I've always liked Ballard's short story work. Recently I thought about writing an homage to the Atrocity Exhibition based on my experience quitting caffeine, but I was too tired to do so.

Anyone else having trouble keeping up with all their media? It's getting crazy (or, rather, it has been for a long time).

Vanishing Point was one of my first introductions to actual radio drama.
And I challenge anyone growing up in those years to have been introduced to it as I did, and NOT get hooked
